Cordelia Ruth Whitfield

This month's remembered ancestor

Cordelia Ruth Whitfield

1858 — 1936·Boone County, Kentucky

Schoolteacher, herbalist, mother of seven. Cordelia kept a household ledger from 1881 until the year she died — fifty-five years of weather, births, and recipes recorded in the same steady hand. Her notebook is the reason most of what follows could be written at all.

If you carry something we don't

Send us what you know.

A photograph in a shoebox, a name on a back porch, a story you heard once and never wrote down — it belongs here too. Forebear is built slowly, by everyone who remembers.
