Walter James Whitfield

Biography

Only son of Silas and Harriet. Served with the U.S. Army in the European theatre, 1942 — 1945, returning with a knee that troubled him for the rest of his life and the habit of reading the newspaper aloud at breakfast. Took over the farm in 1949; sold the lower field in 1971 to pay for his grandson's first year of school.
